Coastline

As well as its fine sandy beaches and invigorating sea water, Carnac’s coastline also features the intriguing “Anse du Pô” cove, an internationally renowned Yacht Club and Carnac Thalasso, a seawater therapy centre that is unique in France.

The Yacht Club is a lively meeting place that is open all year round for sailing enthusiasts, whether beginners or experts, amateurs or professionals. The club’s team and instructors offer a wide range of activities (courses, rental, private lessons, diving and rowing) for individuals, families or groups of friends, at all levels and to suit all requirements. From local regattas to international events, each year Carnac Yacht Club organises several competitions that attract sailors from across the world. This season promises even more events than usual with the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Yacht Club.
Due to the quality of its coastline, Carnac became one of the very first dedicated shellfish farming sites back in 1880. Today, more than 2500 hectares of shellfish farms are run by some thirty Pacific and Olympia oyster farmers in the Anse du Pô and Crac’h river. Oyster farming serves as a marker for water quality and is also a tourist attraction in itself, a source of fascination for holidaymakers. Oyster farmers offer a warm welcome and healthy, fresh produce, guaranteeing you an unforgettable holiday experience.
